Bernadotte School’s international section, The Little House (TLH), accepts children of all nationalities from 6 to 15 years of age. The language of instruction is English, but The Little House is rooted in the Danish educational tradition and is an integral part of Bernadotteskolen as a whole.
The Little House follows the Danish curriculum as a framework, but with an international twist. Children are taught in English and become bilingual, we celebrate the diversity of nationalities in our classes, and students eventually sit all their state exams in Danish.
This combination gives us our unique profile: an independent, English-speaking department within a Danish private school that has a long and strong history of pedagogical innovation.
We place great emphasis on the development of social skills in our children. They are encouraged to resolve conflicts through discussion and negotiation. By fostering self-reliance in an atmosphere of cooperation rather than competition, we aim to develop responsible, caring individuals who understand human values through personal experience and community.
Similarly, our teaching emphasizes the nurturing of cross-curricular, project-based presentation skills. Each school subject and topic is used as a starting point to practice critical thinking, independent learning, and group work — not as an end in itself.
